Day 1 - Saturday
Dublin - arrive! We will meet at the hotel at 2pm for a bit of sightseeing around Dublin. The evening will be frightfully fun as we enjoy the sights and the sounds of the Bram Stoker Festival.
After a hearty breakfast we will set out to see some more of the fair city of Dublin. We will visit Kilmainham Gaol which holds a very important role in Irish History. Next we will be awed by the beauty of the Book of Kells located at Trinity College in the heart of the city centre. We will top our day off with a visit to St. James’ Gate for a pint of Guinness!
Today we will leave Dublin in search of some ghostly adventure! Along our journey we will enjoy the scenic route before stopping at the Tullamore Dew Distillery for a tour and some lunch. Next we will find ourselves at Leap Castle, the most haunted castle in Ireland!
We will enjoy breakfast at the hotel and then set off for Athlone, a medieval town in the heart of Ireland. We will visit Drum Heritage centre and discover the feeling of ancient Ireland when we walk the hallowed ground of the Monastic Site and pathway leading to St. Brigid’s Well and the ancient dolmen that dates back to 3500 BC. Next we will visit Ballinahown Craft Village.This quaint country village is a creative hub for Irish designers and makers. Explore Celtic Roots Studio, renowned for carving stunning sculptures and jewellery made from authentic Irish bogwood. Have a go and try your hand at the art of bogwood sculpture and feel 5,000 years of history in your hands.
We will set out after breakfast along a scenic journey to the Ulster American Folk Park. Here, we will follow the trail of thousands of emigrants from the thatched cottages of Ulster, on board a full scale emigrant ship to the log cabins of the American Frontier. Next we will settle in to the hotel before venturing out for dinner and an Irish Session.
Today is the day! Halloween! We will make our way to Derry where we will do some local sightseeing by day including a guided walking tour. By night we will party the night away at Derry Halloween! The carnival like atmosphere will blow the cobwebs away and you will have the time of your life complete with fireworks!
After a delicious breakfast we will set off to the Giants Causeway and Visitor Centre, the scene of fighting giants! It is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is a stunning bit of nature formed 60 million years ago and a sight not to be missed. From there we will go to the cosmopolitan city of Belfast where we will have some free time to do some shopping before our Farewell Dinner.
