For those arriving on Saturday we will have a bus from Dublin Airport to the hotel. Alternatively, you may meet us at the hotel where one of our staff will be waiting to greet you. Our trip will begin with a Welcome Reception and Irish Session with local Irish Step Dancers!
After breakfast we will set off to Belfast where we will have an incredible tour of the Titanic Museum. This interactive tour will let you experience the splendor and grandeur of the ill fated ocean liner. We will also board the SS Nomadic - the last world’s last remaining White Star vessel. After lunch, we will do a walking and sightseeing tour of Belfast including the Murals and Peace Wall followed by a bit of shopping on Donegall Place and Royal Avenue.
We will spend the morning with a Master Potter while we learn the Irish art of pottery and clay making. During our time, we will learn about the importance of pottery in Irish history and we will each create our own piece to take home. Following lunch, we will embark on a walking and sightseeing tour of the Viking village of Carlingford and nearby Greenore. Hundreds of years of history will come alive as we explore with a local historian and storyteller. The evening will see us at a local pub for a bit of craic at an Irish Session!
We will find ourselves exploring the Irish Military Museum and learning about Ireland’s part in 1916, WWI, and WWII. There is plenty to see and do here before heading out to the Battle of the Boyne Battle Site and Visitor Centre for a living history tour. While there, we will tour the Victorian gardens before heading out to take part in a spectacular Birds of Prey display including falcons, hawks and owls. A perfect opportunity to get some amazing and unique photographs in the Irish countryside!
Enjoy a scenic drive into the majestic Mourne Mountains, where C.S. Lewis based his mythical Narnia, and into the Silent Valley to explore. Stop into a local seaside village for lunch and a little shopping before continuing our journey through picturesque villages. Next we find ourselves at the award winning Ghan House for a hands on cookery class followed by the delicious meal that you created! Ghan House is a tree length away from medieval Carlingford set within private walled grounds. It has magnificent views of Carlingford Lough, Mourne Mountains or Slieve Foy.
We will travel to the Brú na Boinne Visitor Center to learn about the 5,000-year-old burial tombs of Knowth and then head over to the Hill of Tara. Next we will see the ruins of Trim Castle before enjoying a lunch in the beautiful town of Trim. We will continue our magical day of castles with a tour of Slane Castle and the Slane Distillery where you will see the whiskey making process and enjoy a sample if you desire. We will top off this glorious day with a 3-course dinner in Slane Castle’s legendary, award winning Gandon Room.
Morning at the farm! Visit Causey Farm and take part in a Sheepdog demonstration, meet some farm animals and learn some Irish traditions like Irish dancing, Bodhran playing and a Hurling demonstration. You will also enjoy some farm fresh Irish brown bread and lamb stew if you are feeling a bit peckish (vegetarian option upon request). Later we will have some time to do some shopping in Dundalk during Culture Night, a wonderful event that takes place countrywide!
Farewell Breakfast at the hotel followed by hotel check out.
A Coach will return you to Dublin Airport to continue your journey or flights home.
