01 Who We Are

My Irish Travel operates the website myirishtravel.com (the "Site"). We are an independent travel guide providing editorial content about visiting Ireland, including information on flights, accommodation, food and drink.

For the purposes of the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 ("GDPR") and the Data Protection Act 2018, we are the data controller responsible for your personal data.

02 Data We Collect

Data you provide directly

This Site does not currently have user accounts, contact forms or newsletter sign-ups. If we introduce these in future, this policy will be updated before collection begins.

Data collected automatically

• Cookie consent choice: We store your cookie preference (accept / essential only / custom) so we don't repeat the banner on every visit. This is an essential cookie and does not require consent.
• Affiliate click data: When you click a link marked ✦, our affiliate partners may set their own tracking cookies to attribute bookings to our site. We receive only aggregated commission reports — not your personal booking details.
• Server logs: Our hosting provider automatically logs IP addresses, request times and HTTP status codes for security purposes. These logs are retained for 30 days and are not used for profiling.

06 Third Parties

Affiliate booking partners (if consented)

When you click a ✦ affiliate link you are transferred to a third-party website such as Booking.com, Skyscanner, Irish Ferries, Airbnb, RentalCars.com, DiscoverCars or OpenTable. These partners may set their own tracking cookies to attribute bookings to our referral. Each operates under its own privacy policy. We receive only anonymised commission data — we never receive your name, payment details or booking information.

Hosting provider

Our Site is hosted by a third-party provider who processes server log data as a data processor on our behalf under a data processing agreement. Server logs are retained for 30 days.

Google Fonts

This Site loads fonts from Google Fonts. Google may receive your IP address as part of this request; however Google states it does not use this data to identify individuals or serve personalised content. No cookies are set by this service.

07 Affiliate Links & Commercial Relationships

My Irish Travel participates in affiliate programmes with travel booking platforms. Links marked ✦ are affiliate links — if you make a booking through one, we may receive a small commission at no additional cost to you.

Our editorial content is entirely independent of these commercial relationships. We only recommend services we would genuinely use ourselves, and affiliate links are always clearly labelled. Commission arrangements do not influence our editorial rankings or recommendations.

08 Data Retention

• Cookie consent record: Stored in your browser's localStorage for 12 months, then automatically cleared and the consent banner re-shown.
• Server logs: Retained by our hosting provider for 30 days, then automatically deleted.
• Affiliate click data: Retained in accordance with each partner's standard reporting window, typically 30–90 days.

09 Your Rights Under GDPR

If you are in the EU, EEA or UK you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Right of access — request a copy of data we hold about you.
• Right to rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate data.

Some third-party services (including our hosting provider and affiliate partners) may process data outside the EEA. This Site is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided data to us, contact privacy@myirishtravel.com and we will delete it promptly.
